Christian Education Sunday School for all ages is every Sunday 9:45 am. We always need leaders/teachers substitutes for Nursery through Middle School classes! Nursery through Elementary students use age appropriate denominational curriculum that is biblically based and culturally relevant. Middle School students use a curriculum that follows the Common Lectionary making connections to Sunday Morning Worship, as well as preparing them for Confirmation Classes. The High School class will be discussion oriented, guided by the book, “Being Presbyterian In The Bible Belt”. This book address many questions and conflicts young Presbyterians face in a faith atmosphere dominated by other denominations. The adult class will spent most of the year looking at the influence of Paul on Christianity. Like him or not, Paul influenced and shaped Western Christianity more than any other human. Using various resources, we will explore his life, letters, theology, and legacy. Wednesday Study Group Every Wednesday at 6:30 pm a group meets in the Parish House to study and discuss a wide spectrum of knowledge, ideas, events, and people. The broad rubric for this year is “A History of God”. Using the printed and video resources of the Velma McCosh Library, we will explore from an historical perspective the cultural, philosophical, geographical, political, and scientific influences on how humans have and continue to perceive and experience God in our lives. Youth Group Middle and High School Youth meet on Sundays at 5:00 pm., except on Fellowship Supper Sundays. The three remaining Sunday evenings will be divided on a weekly basis between recreation, service projects, and spiritual development. Leaders are needed on a regular or semi-regular basis in all three areas of the youth program. The Youth Group holds several fundraisers to support their annual mission trip. They also participate in Souper Bowl Sunday to support local missions. Each year the Youth Group attends a Montreat Youth Conference at the Presbyterian Conference in Montreat, NC. Weekday Women’s Bible Study meet every Wednesday morning at 11:00 am in the church for Bible study, discussion, and fellowship.
