Congregational Nurture Fellowship Suppers are at 6:00 pm on the third Sunday evening of each month. These are covered dish, bring what’s in the ‘fridge’ affairs providing the opportunity to relax and visit with one another over good food. The Presbyterian Women gather regularly for fellowship, nurture, and mission planning. They sponsor annual mission events such as Santa Express supporting the Presbyterian Homes, adoption of local families for Christmas, Honors Day, and various other mission projects as needed. The group also has an annual weekend retreat, usually held at a state park. The Presbyterian Men get together on the fourth Thursday of each month for fellowship and “male bonding”. This may be a cookout at the river, dinner and movie, or watching a ballgame. Whatever the venue, it promises to be relaxing time with the guys. These gatherings offer the opportunity to learn about service opportunities in the congregation and community. We hope to again sponsor a food basket program for local families at Christmas. For the fourth year we are planning a congregation wide ski trip in the North Carolina Mountains. The tentative dates are February 14-17, 2003. This is a great time of intergenerational fellowship and recreation. Deposit amounts and deadlines are forth coming. Outreach and Benevolence FPC supports five local organizations with regular financial contributions:  The Monroe County Ministerial Association, Community Care, Inc., Monroe County Habitat For Humanity, The Pregnancy Center, and Hospice of Central Georgia.  There is opportunity for direct involvement as a volunteer in any of these organizations. Every year we offer a modest scholarship to a graduating senior from both Mary Persons High School and Monroe Academy.  The scholarship amount is determined by contributions from the congregation and is awarded according to applicants’ financial need and educational intent.  Donations to this scholarship fund can be made year round. Each year the youth of the congregation along with adult leaders, go on a work mission trip.  For the past seven years we have gone to the Sunset Gap Community Center in eastern Tennessee doing home repairs in the surrounding community and improvement projects at the center.   This trip is made possible through fundraisers and contributions.
